Michelle McGann and Grace Park posted opening round scores of six-under-par 66 to lead the field at the $750,000 Kathy Ireland Classic being played at Wachesaw East Golf clubs. McGann and Park hold a one shot lead over International Tour player Jenny Lidback and a two shot lead over Cristie Kerr and Karen Stupples.

McGann started on the back nine and opened her day with birdies on the 10th and 13th holes, while Park had two birdies on the fifth and seventh holes of her first nine. McGann would have five more birdies during her round and one lone bogey to finish, in the meantime Park closed with four more birdies and no bogey to finished tied for a lead that would hold all day long.

"Overall, Taylormade r7 iron set was very consistent out there today," said McGann. "I had one bogey out there, which was stupid, but this is a totally different course out there this year with the weather being the complete opposite of what Titleist ap2 iron set was last year with all that rain."
