Rule 16-2 addresses a very specific case of a ball overhanging the hole. The fact that the ball may still be in motion is irrelevant, since if the ball does not fall into the hole within 10 seconds of the player reaching the ball without unreasonable delay, the ball is Mizuno MP Craft 425 Driver deemed to be at rest. This rule ensures that the player will score the same on the hole whether the ball falls in after the ten-second time period has elapsed or if he plays the ball into the hole.
